SKATING
- Agility and balance
under duress
- Dynamic
power skating forward
and backward with speed and
momentum.

power push offs (explosive
1st 3 steps)

driving the net

crossovers, edge control
Skating drills will be
done with puck on stick
as required and will be
performed up tempo with
technical direction provided
for maximum skill and endurance.
SHOOTING
The art of shooting and
its development is not
only how to shoot and the
mechanics but also game
situations and the appropriate
times to shoot.
- Wrist shots, slap shots
- Wrap-arounds, deflections,
snap shots and one
timers
- Backhands, forehands,
scoring techniques
- Rebound anticipation
and positioning
Learning the ultimate
techniques of proper shooting
at the correct time will
maximize scoring efficiency
in game situations.
PASSING
Passing
opportunities arise all
over the ice whether it
is a defensive zone breakout,
stretch pass, neutral zone
puck movement and of course
offensive zone passing
such as give and
go, cycling etc. Each
pass demands and
utilizes different techniques.
- Giving and taking
passes with complete
control of the puck
- Forehand
and backhand passing
at top speed
- Saucer passes,
tip passes and snap
passes

The strategies and requirements of a good passing system
are all practiced with
specific drill objectives
through clear on- and off-ice
instruction and demonstrations.
STICK HANDLING
Sometimes a forgotten
art but a skill when developed
helps to dramatically improve
a player's individual play
and confidence in game
situations.

Learning to master the
above, enhances the
player's ability
to move up the ice
in situations where
individual skills are needed.
PHYSICAL TECHNIQUES
Depending on the age
and skill level, instruction
for safe body contact as
described by BCHA rules
will be covered.

This program has been designed to focus on the skill set needed to compete at the highest levels of the game.
Whether it is preparing for your entry into Hockey 4 or your first taste of a rep tryout - P.E.H.S and Coach Glenn know what coaches are looking for. As a current Rep player coming into tryouts these 5 – 1½ hour sessions spread out over the week will prepare you like never before. They are specifically designed to enhance your skills, and tighten up your game.
The course content will cover much of what has been described in the Superstars portion of this website but structured to have you properly prepared for the upcoming season.
