Being an on ice goalie requires flexibility, agility, quickness and a good deal of nerve. The goalie is the only obstacle standing between the puck and the net. Hard work in practice and executing effective goalie drills is important to develop and harness the skills necessary to succeed when game time rolls around.
Our on ice goalie sessions directed by Coach Paul will feature live shooting using multiple nets, a high teacher to goalie ratio, teaching all aspects of goaltending, directed to the skill level of each of the individual goalies. The most advanced techniques and strategies will be covered as well as improving skating efficiency and speed in and around the net.
Coach Paul will cover such items as:
1) Skating backward/forward
2) posture/hip and knee flexibility
3) proper butterfly technique/W drill
4) T- Push/shuffle/side to side
5) stick work and poke checking
6) faster hands
7) rebound control
8) screen and tip shots
9) wraparounds
10) challenging/angle strategy
11) watching the game.
We will hold goalie only sessions --1 ¼ hr. each of the initial 5 days Aug. 13-18 as well as participation in the full week of interactive team training sessions where realistic game situations are used extensively. Meaning the goalie can go from technical training to on ice practical training during the same day. Saturday is game day.
Now here is the Goalie Extended Program participation part. Goalies who sign up for the Aug. 13-18 sessions will be invited to participate in the on ice sessions of Aug. 6-11 and Aug. 20-25 at Richmond Centre or at Vancouver Aug. 27-31 -- at no extra charge.
No other goalie school offers
1) technical training
2) practical training
3) extended training
